I Picked up a Axis 206 on eBay a few months back it worked great then i added the trial of their DVR software to the unit and i loved it. (until i figured the archiving wasn't working properly.) I explain this to my uncle and he purchases a Axis 207W for me on eBay as a gift but it arrives without a focus ring i think no big deal i will call axis and RMA or just buy the part. I emailed axis on the issue they answered promptly to my question and they had me convinced they would send me a replacement so i hop on eBay and pickup a couple more units missing rings figuring hey i will just buy it from them and the matter is behind us. so the rep has me call in and the rep i speak to says that i can call back with the unit and receipt from the vendor they will service it but then i said that they came from eBay and they don't want to honor any warranty it could possibly have and hey i can understand that there is no problem with that but they then go on to tell me they don't sell the part for the units. I am like how can that be i cant be the only person that this has happened to someone has to sell the parts i have been google'n and searching the web from eBay to craigs list and i decided to see if this has happened on other Forums as well and here i am is there possible anywhere i can purchase a replacement or a new lens all together. Or how to get Axis to RMA the units other than the lens the server side works great updated and configured like a Champ. Idea

I have had a lot of experience with this model and it's a great camera, and the most popular model at eyeontheplace.com, my business, BUT it is easy to accidentally unscrew the focus ring if you are a bit heavy-handed focusing the camera, as focusing involves partially unscrewing or screwing in the focus ring. I have also had new cameras where the focus ring is faulty - detached from the lens, so moving the ring causes no change in the focus.

It is also possible that in a public place someone has removed the ring to stop the camera recording usable images.

Either way, it does not surprise me that people are selling them minus the focus ring. It's because they cannot easily get replacement parts as Axis don't retail them. I wish they would.. So Axis, if you are reading this..
