Did you have a specific Mobotix camera in mind? _________________ Administrator

Would you need Pan/Tilt/Zoom?
The Axis 231D has an optical zoom of 18X whereas the Mobotix M10D-Night doesn't have a optical zoom. I think the M10D-Night has a lower lux so it is better in dark applications.
I think one downside of the 231D is its mainly an indoor camera and you would have to get an enclosure if you wanted it put it outdoors. _________________ Administrator

I have an Axis 213 with an outdoor enclosure that I got for roughly $2080. The 213 is a great PTZ camera that supports both Mpeg4 and Motion JPEG. It has a built in IR but is only good for about 10-15 feet. I like the quality on my camera and it was easy to setup. I was thinking of the 232D, but with that and an enclosure it was looking really costly. I decided that the 360 pan was not worth the price. The 213 has a 340 degrees pan and that was fine with me because I get a 26x zoom. I haven't expereinced the mobotix, so I can't tell you to buy it or not. All I know is my Axis camera has been great for me. You should do a search on froogle.com to find the best price. I got my from securityproshop.com but you can do your own search to find the best price.
