I have been using Axis 211 cameras as webcams for about 3 years, showing a view from my apartment on my website. I currently have 2 cameras, see the view at:
http://www.wirednewyork.com/webcam/
http://www.wirednewyork.com/webcam2/

The cameras ftp 640x480 image every 30 seconds to the website, with the webpage refreshing every 30 seconds. Axis 211 cameras have DC-iris for the day and night operation.

Now I am moving to another apartment, but also with a view, I am considering getting a new webcam and I am rethinking my whole setup. So I have several questions related to this.

1) Would getting a better lens for my Axis 211 increase image quality?
2) What other cameras could I use that would have better image quality?
3) What kind of problems would I run into if I decide to ftp image more frequently, like 1 image per second, or have MPEG stream? Would it slow down my Internet connection? How would I show it on the webpage, using Javascript?
