Well
I have a knock off camera, one of those that looks like the gadspot camera. anyhow, i have it out in my barn and it is connected into my house. I purchased a pigtail to stick onto the camera's pci card, it goes out to a 9bi patch antenna. The barn is roughly 500' from my house.
Inside my house i am using a Zyxel Zyair 802.11g usb wifi adapter but in Access Point mode. I have this mounted inside an old 1950's hubcap to create a parabolic dish. I have this setup mounted to a camera tripod.
here is a picture of my camera setup in the barn:
so far its been pretty reliable. I have it set to reboot about every 4 hours just so i don't have any issues with lock ups, and it also gives it about 5 -10 minutes to cool down a bit.

How many frames per second do you get by chance? _________________ Administrator

i think i have it set at 30fps with low compression. On most days i get about that, on windy days it drops a little bit because of signal loss, but stays connected. After the last one is born, i am moving the camera outside to watch my gate, see if anyone comes in uninvited. I am going to get two more to place in the barn, so i might be looking at a couple PTZ cameras that are wireless.

just as an update, i have since modified the setup a little. Still using the same camera, but changed what it connects to in the house. I am now using an Intermec AP as my access point in my house. It has a 9dbi Patch antenna pointed to the barn. I have not put the camera back outside yet as i have been testing. But you can take a look to see the camera in action.
