Use a wireless IP camera like the Axis 207w.

You can connect it to any Internet connection or use wireless inside your home / office.

You can then connect to it using your laptop. Just use your browser like you are using the Internet, put in the camera address, and them your'e connected.

Hi!
I have the similar challenge. However, I am accessing my camera videos in the network. But I need to view these video in other networks (via Internet).
I need to use this feature in my own application (developed in LabVIEW or dotNET). Can anybody guide me please?

wega,
We use an IP camera by Hikvision with a wireless housing by Wirelessoutdoorcam to do just that. The wireless camer a system is setup at a job site and normally it is also recorded to a hidden laptop in a job trailer but can be monitored from any PC on site or accross the internet. And in some circumstances we also record across the internet.

I'd like to throw in my two cents. Though fairly new, I think a Dropcam would fulfill your purposes well.

As long as the camera is near a router or connected via ethernet, video will consistently stream at around 30 fps no matter where you are. It's reliable and I think would serve you fine. You could view the video online from the site on whatever browser you use (internet explorer, safari, firefox, chrome, etc)

Hope you find what you're lookin for.
