|
|
I'm looking at installing 7 of either one of these cameras. I am trying to keep the cost at $300 for each cam and have them monitored and recorded thru a NVR. I am looking at using POE and would use injectors if I use the axis.
axis 207:
benifits: good video quality(VGA), ton of NVR support, pretty good in low light
negative: no POE, can't change lenses
linksys pvc2300:
benifits: good video quality(VGA), POE, interchangable lenses, night mode
negative: no NVR support I can find other then the included software
Lastly, have I missed a cam with the features (VGA quality, POE, good NVR support) I'm looking for at this price point?
Thanks for any and all help!!

Is everything local or are you streaming it to a NVR?
Vivotek 7131:
Great price
Great Picture
Full Support
Vivotek 7138
Great Price
Better Picture (mega-pixel)
Comes with built 16 chan basic software if you dont need remote recorded view.
Both have POE
I believe I have stated in the past, if you are price point driven the 7xxx cameras are some of the better cameras on the market!

Thanks for the reply.
The cams and NVR will be set up on the same 100mps local network.
I actually have the 7138 and it works well in natural light but I experienced a lot of ghosting in the megapixel setting @ 7 fps. This stopped if I messed around with the exposure but left the picture dark. Am I missing something in the cam config?
The axis 207 seems to handle different lighting conditions better but does not have a changable lense and POE like the 7138 does.
I have never tried the 7131 but have looked at the specs.
I need the remote recorded view. I have been demoing milestone xprotect basis+ which looked good until I learned you can only have one remote connection. I will have at least two.

Not sure if you already understood this, but Basis+ is limited to one client connection at a time, but you can install the Remote or Smart Client on as many PC's as you like.
If you need two simultaneous client connections, then yes you would need XProtect Professional which may or may not be out of your desired price range. But if you are the only user and just need to be able to view from work and home, and on the road, then it would work just fine. _________________ Support Engineer

I realize you can install the clients on the pcs but only have one connection to the NVR at a time over the network.
With that said, from what I understand, you can have a local connection on the NVR and a connection from a PC at the same time, right?
As far as the Vivotek IP7138 goes, I put a better lense on it and the picture is now MUCH better. I think I will be going with these cams now and the xprotect basis+ software.
Thanks for everyones input!

That's correct - Image Server connections are not counted on the server itself, so you can leave the Smart Client running on the server at all times, and still be able to login remotely.
I'm glad you're happy with this combination - enjoy _________________ Support Engineer
