I just bought a LinkSys WVC54G IP camera.
My network is very basic. I have a Windows XP PC with a WRT54G router. I can connect to the camera fine with my PC and I can get a picture from the camera.
How do I access the WVC54G from outside my network? I tried getting a friend to access the camera but they can't connect to the camera.
Can anyone help me??

You need to setup port forwarding in your WRT54G router. Checkout www.portforward.com to learn how to setup port forwarding. If you would like a tutorial let me know. I also have a WRT54G _________________ Administrator

I've tried doing this and it wouldn't work. I've tried several different ports on my router >1024 and nothing. I setup a DDNS account and that still didn't work. Is there anything else i'm missing? The router i'm using is a Belkin F5D7230-4.
In addition, i can't get the motion activated feature to trigger and send an email. I set it up on the setup page under the "options" tab and click apply, but it still won't work. Am i missing a step here? I wave my hand in front of the camera and the act/link light on the camera doesn't flash one bit. So i am assuming that it isn't even trying to send data. Can someone help?

Ok, ignore this question. I got it to work. The Belkin router sucks. It wasn't allowing me to open up a port. For some reason the settings just wouldn't take. So, i ended up buying a Linksys router and it works like a charm. Got the entire thing setup and running in a matter of minutes.
As for the motion activation features. I had to downgrade the firmware to version 2.07 to get it to work. Here is a good website filled with tons of info about the linksys cameras: http://www.linksysinfo.org/
Now to figure out if i can get this running on WPA.

Thats great to hear you got it working!
I prefer Linksys routers over Belkin. Thank you for the link as well for the info on Linksys cameras, I will check it out.
Let me know if you have any other questions! _________________ Administrator
