We are currently planning a 100 camera system using analog cameras connected to 4 or 8 channel video encoders at 4 locations within the facility. We are going to use the analog cameras because we have them on hand and they are also about 1/3 the cost of the similar type high security IP cam.

The encoders will connect to a standalone Cisco fiber network so bandwidth should not be an issue. For testing we have used the Verint encoders that provide MPEG-4 at 4CIF/30pps per channel.

As far as software we have tested Verint Nextiva, Milestone, ONSSI, Genetec Omnicast, and will be testing Nice Vision next week.

What we have seen is that MPEG-4 at 4CIF results in a good deal of interlacing or tearing of the image during motion while providing a very good picture when there is little motion. It appears that some software platforms handle this issue better than others and I would appreciate any feedback on success stories where video encoders were used with a management software.

In our application we are looking at using video decoders in areas where client PCs would not be a good fit. This allows us to use the virtual matrix feature to deploy a standard Pelco KBD300 keyboard and analog monitor. We can select any camera (encoder/decoder compatible) on the network and perform basic matrix system functions. Can also perform some playback functions. Verint, Genetec, and Nice can do this. Some may say this is old technology but there are still applications where it is useful.

I hope that I can provide more useful info. once our testing is complete and we have chosen a system. Thanks for your time.

HI,

Have you tried NUUO yet? I recommand you to try NUUO SCB-3000 series.
This series of PC-basd MPEG4 DVR can do 4CIF/30fps, too. It can supports and manage up to 32ch in one screen simultaneously.
Same spec, good quality, a compact price.

The package includes NUUO DVR video capture cards, and NUUO surveillance software that covers monitoring with video analysis ability, Record and Playback, Remote live view, video search functions, etc.. The ability is as strong as Milestone, and some what stronger than Genetec. I think it'll cover the playback feature you need.

Easy to setup and use. It'll take less than 20min to setup and run the system.

You can download a free 30 days trial software for IP cameras at www.nuuo.com. The trial version won't support analog camera but the functions are exactly the same.

The system can also integrate with IP cameras to do Hybrid. But, it'll cost a little more.

So, let me know if you want more detail.

Nuuo is very good software, we use it for several of our installs.
Also, D3Data is great for multi-location installs.

Hi,

I am just wondering where to buy online Nuuo NVR surveillance software? Anyone got any idea? Also, do you really need to buy Nuuo IP+ series to support megapixels cameras or just buy normal Nuuo IP series will do? What is the really difference between Nuuo IP+ and Nuuo IP? Very Happy Wink

Thanks.
