I just bought this camera and it was working fine. I plugged it in to my router, and saw it show up on my DHCP client list. Then all I had to do was type it's IP adress into my browser and I could access and control.

Well, then I tried to enable it for web access. It didn't come with a setup CD or a manual but I managed to find the manual online. After reading it, I guess I was supposed to register the cam with viewnetcam.com before enabling it for web access, but I never did that. I can no longer access the cam withthe IP address in my browser like I could before. I've pushed the factor defaults restore button several times but it doesn't seem to do anything other than cycling the cameras power. During power up it will show up on my DHCP client list for a moment then disappear, thats about it. Other than that it looks like it did before, solid green light, nothing abnormal at all. I just can't figure out how to gain access again.

So I'm guess I've enabled it for web access but it has no web address, and it won't reset to factory defaults for some reason. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. Anyone else seen this happen before, I can't be the first person to have ever done this!

http://192.168.0.x/Set?Func=FactoryDef&Kind=1&Data=OK

might do it. Whatever you do, don't mess with it for a few minutes after you do that. If that works, then read the manual before doing any more network stuff.

I think that camera has a weird mode where you have to set it to not reset network settings each camera start. It would be in the book.

If you can't even get that to work (sounds like it), then check the manual again and make sure you do exactly as it says. Then again, it's a panasonic, and those things always do things weird.

I assume I'm supposed to put the cameras IP there at the beginning? It didn't seem to do anything, and I just get a "page can't be displayed". I don't think the camera is even getting an IP from my router.

You have the manual handy? Use the default IP# the manual says it gets. It's usually 192.168.0.100 for cameras in general but only the manual will say. Also, that line I gave needs admin privs; I presume a user/password dialog will appear so you need to know the default admin/password details. If it didn't reset, you could try all the IP#s, like say, 192.168.0.180, .181, in case your router is not giving you the whole truth (very possible on your typical home router-combo). In other words, it may have given it an IP# different than what it says, even if it says it gave it nothing and knows nothing about the camera.

ping 192... may be the fastest way to find "something" first. If you get an echo from something you didn't expect, then try the http:// ... line (whatever one you like, not necessarily, and best not the reset one since if you find it you don't need to reset, yet).

If still dead, your best bet is to get the poke-hole-in-camera to work and then follow the manual in how-to-set-up-first-time.

Last resort, contact Panasonic. Save what you write so you don't have to type it all over again when someone there says, "now what's the problem?"
