This question goes out to those installers who have cameras installed where the temperatures go down below zero in the winter months.

Most camera specs even those with included heaters only have -10 to -20C operational ratings. I typically install box cameras into the bulky heated enclosures with success. How about customers that do not want big bulky looking enclosures and would prefer a bullet style weather proof ir camera?

I've seen others install small bullet cameras at gas stations and such and I believe successfully. I'm sure these camera specs do not state operational to even -10C.

I live in an area where we have seen -37F this year on at least one occasion. Having a -10 to -20F temperature especially in the evening is typical. I selected a bullet camera that is rated to -10 and states an included heater but a lot of cameras state -10C with and without heaters and one would assume with a heater it operate colder. Specs seem to be a template of sort!

What are your perceptions of these stated operational temperatures. Many people have stated as long as the camera is running in the bullet enclosure and not powered off the internal electronics will keep it working well below the stated temp....does this sound right?

Thanks.
Chuck
