Hi,
First of all i like to congratulate all for this usefull forum, it help me a lot and is very interest.
I found this page with several enhanced firmware, telnet enabled, very interest for experiments, i load several of them in my cam and it worked very well.
http://tools.rebel-it.com.au/ipc-1002/
Not fix my problem, camera lock up randomly and show black image but is a good point to investigate
Best Regards
Jose A.

i am kindly asking for help with VS-IPC1002, i am using it with firmware 1.1.0.12, i want to upgrade to 1.1.0.18 or 1.1.0.38, but i am facing a strange behavior of the cam :
1. i can' get any display, in ActiveX, JAVA or Sever Push mode
2. once i open the video view page, the view red LED goes on and it never goes off even i close the page
3. when i try to apply the firmware, it says uploading then it says upload complete, upgrading will take 2 or 3 minutes then it will reboot and nothing happens
4. when i restart the cam its still 1.1.0.12.
5. the cam does not detect CF card.
i am able to ping, view pages of the cam, so the came is working,i assume its a SW / FW problem
how i am suppose to fix this ?

I'm getting the same problem, mine everytime I get a blackscreen. I tried all links from this site, but anyone work for me. But I have news, a have two cameras, the other one is work fine and I don't do any update on this camera that is on version
Hardware Version 1.0.0.0
Firmware Version 1.1.0.12
I think that the best version is use 1.1.0.12, but I can't find it on internet. Has someone this version? Is possible get this version from one camera and put on another?
thanks
Gustavo

I also have this Vilar IP cam. Bought a few months ago.
It's really cheap for it's kind (€75) but it's so unreliable it's almost unusable.
serial #:00168E19563a
hardware version: 1.0.0.0
firmware version: 1.1.0.12
I'm using this camera with a software called Motion. The software is running on a Linux computer. Motion does the motion detecting and also the http streaming. On this server I made a PHP/Javascript application to view the camera and to control it using ajax-controls. And it has functions to permanently keep a short motion-movie and erase once a day all the other movies.
When Motion lost connection it sends me an email. Unfortunately this happens very frequently often within 30 minutes after a reboot. software reboot sometimes makes it come back again, but often I have to do a poweroff.
I haven't really tested the nightvision but I'm quite sure I have the same problem of the light not switching off.
And often the main 'System Status' page won't show up.
I haven't been able to make the ActiveX control be installed in IE, but the Java interface works nicely using Firefox on Linux and Java.
Since I have nothing to loose I will try the other firmware files in the near future.
I also wrote a little blogpost about it:
