I am trying to view my camera from a public computer. The Axis 207W camera has an option where MPEG4 can be viewed in Quicktime. When I access my camera, the Quicktime image with the large Q comes up and it says "connecting" then after about 10 seconds it says "10061 Disconnected." Anyone have any experience with this and know how to get Quicktime to work for this?
Thanks

Does it work at home on the same network? That's where I would start to determine where it is failing you. If that works, then the problem is you may not have configured your router correctly. You have to set it up so the port number on the network camera, say it's 5000 has to be configured in your router to bypass the firewall. Otherwise your router just says NO to requests from the internet for that port number. So say you configured your router correctly, the next problem might be your ISP is blocking that port, stoopid ISP. Mine for example was blocking my port for my slingbox, so I had to pick a different port number and then open that up on the router. Next, if all that is correct, consider that your IP address is being changed once in a while by your ISP. When you connect to your internet provider, you are issued an IP address from your ISP with what's called a lease. So your lease maybe one week, at the end of the lease, there's no guaranttee that you will keep that same IP, some automatically renew, some change. There are services that keep track of your changing IP, for example, my Slingbox keeps track of it, so when my computer changes IP address, I can still get to it from my laptop far, far away when I travel for work.
Hope that helps, good luck.

Try to open port 554 in your router/firewall where your cam is connected.

How exactly does that camera work? So does it have an activex control that provides streaming video for a web browser? Does it push out an mp4 file every few seconds/minutes that is ftp'ed to your PC? Or is the idea that you can use quicktime to view the streaming video from the camera?

To access live video feed from your Axis 207W:
Open Quicktime
Click on file, then 'open URL'
In the URL box, type
http://cameraaddress/mpeg4/video.sdp
(substituting the valid external IP address configured for your 207W, with port number if configured for any port other than 80)
I've test this and it works fine. If yours doesn't work, then the 'public place' you are trying to access it from is blocking the port, address, or that kind of activity.
