We have installed a trial of the BiKal 32ch NVR using the EyeSoft IP Surveillance software with video analytics in a McDonalds restaurant in Ealing, West London.

The purpose of the trial is to help manage problems with illegal parking and gangs of youths gathering onsite as well as incorporating a loss prevention solution to help reduce shrinkage.

So far the system has been very effective in combatting illegal parking by non users of the restaurant and notifying management of gathering crowds around the the restaurant.

Success of the trial should result in a roll out across local franchises with further evaluation for extended implementation to be confirmed.

and how much cost the the bikal cameras? are they really reliable? I was watching the demo on securicorp's web. .. And it was very strange. The image was holding periodicaly.

You used a 32 channel analog recorder to record ip cameras? or there are also analog cameras available?

Hi, the BiKal Lite IP cameras on our website are for home and small business only. They start from £49.00 / $99. They perform very well under normal circumstances and are quite reliable. Video is currently holding due to to an overloaded network (you will see same effect on DVR demo). The demo will be off for a week after the weekend as we move demo to another office. I will post a notice so you can try again then. The BiKal Lite camera has an analogue output also and is supplied with lens and bracket.

We have an upcomming range of MegaPixel and high res IP cameras with SD card, wireless,Night Vision with LED models called the BiKal Elite range. These will be more suited to the business customer and will include the H.264 codec. These will also be available in a hybrid IP and analogue version so you can switch between IP & analogue at any time.

The McDonalds trial is currently using a selection of Axis IP cameras and our own Beta PTZ cameras connected to a 16ch BiKal Elite NVR. The Elite NVR is also available as a hybrid or analogue version using the same video capture boards being used in the Beijing Olympics 2008 and both airports in Paris, France.

The cameras are connected to our hardened POE switch which withstands harsh temperatures which is running on its own independant network.

As this is a trial, our equipment is running along side the current old CCTV. The customer will be able to choose to upgrade or keep their current cameras and still use the BiKal system by adding the analogue capture board or using video servers, howeverm the video capture board costs less than a video server.

Thanks for the info. both the upcoming bikals and the current ones are very intresting.

i want to buy one for testing purposes. can you guide me from where i can obtain one? (in both websites no info. available)

and some questions.
1. please more info about the lens( fixed or not, plasti/glass etc.)
2.is there a big difference between the sony had 1/3 and the ccd available on the budget-friendly models.
3.the optional wireless is available on the basic model? can I add a mini-pci wlan card on it?
4.As the camera is wide, could it enter in a standart outside housing?

and.. I would like to know the price of the hi-end model. And of course where to buy-guide.

thankyou.
