207W - Delay between motion event captures

There seems to be a delay of a minute or two between motion event based captures with my camera. It is update to the latest version but has always had this problem. The camera is set to FTP a mp4 video with sound of about 12 seconds when motion occurs (6s before 6s after). It uses 640x480 images with 25% compression. I find it strange that the camera should not be able to record new motion events immediately after the 12 seconds of capture from the last event. Sure a FTP upload time after than is reasonable to expect, but it cannot be 1-2 minutes long can it? - If indeed there isn't some other reason why the camera takes that long to ready itself for the next motion event. What could I have set incorrectly?
