Hi. I have had a security camera at the front of my house for a number of years now using various software apps including zoneminder, and more recently, eyecopia. I am currently trying out I-Catcher's i-console and would like to replace my single camera for a PTZ type camera, and move the exising one to the back of te house. I am totally confused as to how I connect up a PTZ camera!? My camera PC runs on a virtual server so my cameras MUST be network cameras. I have no dedicated hardware interface for cameras or controls. My current camera is a cable one which connects to one of those IP Video 9100 boards so that I can network it. Assuming this is possible, what do i need to buy? Do I just get a network capable camera with PTZ, and assume that I can control it via the network, via i-catcher, or do I need some other piece of hardware to interfacae for the PTZ. I also have a standard box type camera with a wired zoom lens. Same question applies - how do I interface this so that I can control it via i-catcher?

Many thanks

Gary

If it is an IP camera all telemetry should be sent over the TCP/IP connection be it wired or wireless. The same should go for your zoom camera. Wether or not they work with i-catcher will depend on if they are supported. Your best bet is to check their website out and look for the supported cameras list.
