What would be better, an old Axis camera like the 2100 that you see on ebay for $200 or a new but lower end Axis camera like the 206 or 207? I want to be able to have it upload images to a website via FTP and send me an email alert when motion is detected with an image of video of the detected motion.

I know that from a digital camera point of view, a new model is far better than a few year old model even with the same resolution.

Personally, I'd go for the newer model. Modern cameras can operate in lower lighting conditions, run at higher frame rates, have more "intelligence" on board and higher quality images (eg. Progressive scan vs interlaced). A new camera will also have a warranty not to mention a likely 5+ year life span, a second hand 2100 from ebay could keel over and die a week after you purchase it... I have a 207MW and the image quality is far more superior to the old 213 let alone the 2100 series!
