Hi everyone,
I've got some Axis cameras (213, 214 PTZ and 207W) and I want to receive both sound and video. Notice: I'm using Linux and no Quicktime installed, I can't install it anyways and the cameras are supposed to work without. I've tried several things (now just for 214):
-The internal viewer (with server-push and Java applet). One single time the sound worked with the Java applet, but now it's just background noise, can't get it to work again.
-The web browser CGI script. Doesn't work, neither video nor sound. There are loading and buffering messages but no output.
-External player MPlayer over rtsp. Very strange: If the browser is open, it says "ALSA module occupied" (even if there isn't any site open in Firefox, just the empty browser) and with browser closed it says "connection refused".
-External player VLC over rtsp: Just video and background noise, no feedback when I speak into the mic.
With the 207, I get video like in all cases above, but no sound, even no background noise.
I've tried every setting and every combination of settings on the setup page.
Any ideas? Is there anyone who has ever tried to get the rtsp stream with a flash applet in the browser? Or maybe a Java applet with JMF? Originally my task is to code something to receive sound and video sync'ed from the cameras, but as I don't receive any sound with any obvious option at the moment, I don't even know where to start my work and which programming/scripting language I should choose (the desired outcome is a browser applet to receive the stream everywhere without having the need to install non-common things. Quicktime maybe common but is not very welcome as it comes with 5 seconds lag and installs iTunes Apple crap without asking).
Sorry for wall of text, nevertheless, I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

Well, I figured it out. A system restart, changing the sound output module in VLC from pulse to ALSA, and some more tweaks in the camera setup and it worked.
So my main question remains: What would you suggest to embedd in a browser that makes it possible to receive any of the streams everywhere independent of which camera it is and what's the OS of the user and so on?
I thought about Flash (SWF) or an Java applet with JMF (the viewer Java applet is just fine for the 214 but doesn't have sound for the 207, though the rtsp stream in VLC had audio)? Or any other suggestions?

Hi,
\
I have the same problem, can you give me your setup of VLC and the camera-tweaks for the solution?
regards,
Frans
