Hi all,

I am a true video geek from the Netherlands and have this experimental video-art idea that involves the use of multiple synchronized ip cameras. I'd start out with just two, for testing, but eventually I'd like it to work with 36 cameras (if possible).

Best thing would be a camera that can send jpgs (25 fps?) to a server connected by cable through a switch.

I know that some cameras can be synched to a time-server, others can be triggered by rs-232 etc. What is most important for me is that the pictures get taken at the exact same time on all cameras. A maximum difference of 5 ms would be acceptable.
However, it is not important that they arrive at the same time at the server.

Any thoughts, recommendations or nudges in the right direction would be highly appreciated!

Thanks for reading,

Marc

There are many cameras which do have an input for external alarms, where break sensors and stuff could be attached. Based on that sensor (input triggering) an picture can be uploaded to an ftp server.

By triggering all inputs at the same time the pictures taken should be taken the same time. However this only goes for single images, you won't be able to get 25 single jpgs from one camera in one second.
