Hello,

I want to use two VIVOTEK IP7142 for taking Videos of people who buy gas on our station.
(link to Camera details) http://www.a1securitycameras.com/Vivotek-IP7142.html

(Picture)

All I need is a good recording software with motion detection.
It would be great if every Motion would be stored as Video with date and time.
So that in the time the station is not used I wont waste so much storage.
Is it possible to record Movie and Audio?

Ive tested the Vivotek Software but it works not correct.
Some times its recording, sometimes it doesnt.

You have any tipps for me what software is good for this project?
Freeware would be nice but if it costs a little it doesnt matter.

Hardware:
2 x Vivotek IP7142 camera o LAN (100mbits)
Windows PC with XP or 2000 or Linux. Dualcore 2,2Ghz / 1GB Ram / 500GB HDD

Thanks in advance! Laughing Wink

I can recommend Blue Iris for this. It records audio and video on motion but also audio triggered. Additionally you have a hard disk space management which delets oldest files if a disc quota is exceeded.

You can run a 15 day trial of blue iris to test if this fits your needs, check out http://www.blueirissoftware.com

The full version is US$50

For help on setting up you are welcome to ask at the user to user help forum http://www.cam-it.org

I recommend contacting Vivotek support.

It could be an issue of camera settings (not to mention your network or NVR server if there's a possibility it's getting overloaded)

Yes, you really need a surveillance camera to help you monitor and record the events in your gas station. Scout the market for the best security camera available that is practical yet very effective. A Security system would give you a peace of mind and help you with your growing business.

I second the BlueIris suggestion. It is cheap, has great features, great support and is dead simple to configure.

Best of luck and let us know how you make out.

A few words on the motion detection,

I found that cameras with a lot of noise in low light or not a stable picture can cause a problem with video motion detection although I would not expect that from the Vivotek cameras.

Give EyeSoft a try and use the trial to use the video analytics to draw trip wires in or around your detection areas. Not only does this produce a more accurate result but can also keep a count of people and direction they were moviing in.
