I'm looking at one of the wireless Trendnet cameras (the TV-IP200W) and wanted to know if anyone has any thoughts on reliability and/or quality? I'm mostly looking for a daytime cam to point outside and would love to stay under $150 or so per cam. Also, can the Trendnet cam's on this price range FTP images up to an external web server?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I have never had the chance to fool around with a Trendnet camera but I checked over the specs to see if it would fit your application. I noticed a couple things that might cause issues. The camera only has a 2.5 lux rating. If you want to record at night, this camera will not produce a good enough video - it will be dark. You said you want a daytime camera so if this is not an issue then don't worry about it Wink

The camera doesn't provide a solid 30fps and only offers up to 20fps. If you want to use the camera at a high resolution then you should call Trendnet and ask the fps that is provided for the specific resolution you want to use. I bet you will get 5fps to 10fps at 640x480.

If you are putting this camera outside you will need an enclosure as well. I would price it out and see if it would be more worth your while to get a camera that is an outside dome. Some of those domes have better specs as well.
