I am looking to purchase the Vivotek Pan-Tilt and Pan-Tilt-Zoom. Judging from reviews, Vivotek offers a good quality network camera within my price range.

Two Vivotek Zoom network cameras will be installed in our parking lot and two Pan-Tilt network cameras will be installed in our hallways. We will be expanding over the next six months to also include eight of the Vivotek IP6112 Fixed network cameras.

Can anyone give me advice on the recording software provided with Vivotek network cameras? Will we be able to use the Vivotek software for recording twelve cameras or will we have to purchase software seperate?

Thank you very much for your advice.

Martin

Hello Martin,

Vivotek's software allows you to record up to 16 cameras so you can monitor and record 12 with no problems.

The software itself is basic but does the job. You can setup motion detection where the software will save snapshots or record on detected motion. The Vivotek software has various views you can use where you can view all 12 of your cameras at once and control them via PTZ controls.

The software also includes a playback utility that allows you to view old recorded video. You can also cycle recording so old video is recorded over if your hard drive reaches a specified free space limit.
