I am wondering how well the Axis 210A will work in an outdoors situation. I am wanting to put them under a couple of roof eve's and under a couple of porches. I have the 210A with a cheap lense I purchased from Ebay.

I know the 210A is not a good choice for outdoors but I have 12 of them and am planning on buying a case to go around them.

Will they work fine or not?

Any input is appreciated.

It's not recommended due to the fact that it is not designed for direct sunlight. This will very quickly destroy the lens on the camera. You MIGHT be able to get around this with tenting the housing you place the camera in, but this will pretty much lose all hope of night time images.

Is there a different lense I could purchase? Like an iris lense or something?

You should be able to purchase an Auto Iris (DC Iris) lens. The sister product to the 210A, the 211, comes with one of these from the factory. Its not 100% clear that the Axis 210A will power a DC Iris lens but it appears so. We recommend checking with Axis support before purchase.

bobby1471 is right that pointing these cameras into direct sunlight without an auto-iris lens can cause the sensor to burn out. It might not be such an issue for you, however, if your FOV are not at the horizon but rather at a downward angle.
