Hi all,

I'm having trouble with getting FTP from Axis to Windows Home Server (WHS) to run.
On WHS, I created a dedicated FTP user and assigned r/w access to the dedicated folder \\SERVER\User\ftpuser.
I then configured Internet Information Server (IIS) by creating a FTP site, pointing to \\SERVER\User\ftpuser.
I opened the firewall for port 21 and now configured Axis:
FTP Host = SERVER (that's the name of the WHS, I tried also IP address!).
Port = 21
User and Password for "ftpuser".

Result when testing connection from Axis to WHS:
"Connection timed out SERVER: unkown host".

Would be very helpful if anybody has a similar constellation (Netcam Linux based + WHS). Thanks.

Best regards

Sounds like maybe a DNS error? Try plugging in the IP address instead of server name.

Can you FTP using the same settings from the command line?

@itsokrelax: As I wrote, I tried IP address but it failed.
FTP on DOS level gives an "unkown error code" after having entered the server name.
Q: I remember FTP worked once when using the share "Public" (German: Öffentlich).

Is there any other way to push data from the Axis 207W to the WHS???

First make sure you can ping the camera from the server. Is it on the same subnet? Also, try and ftp to your server from another PC and see if it's all setup correctly. Is the ftp service started? Could be a firewall issue on either your PC, or the router.

Thanks all. I've been able to fix the problem. Firewall port 21 on WHS was closed.
