Hey everyone,

I'm doing a test on an ACTi CAM-5120 IP Camera. I would like your thoughts on the camera. You can access the camera here, http://ncr.dynalias.com The username and password is demo.

You will need to use Internet Explorer to view the camera.

Let me know what you think of this IP Camera! Smile

I get the same error actually on a couple of my PC's. That is the reason why I would like to test this. I have received a few various errors with this camera. ACTi says they do not have this problem in their lab. That is why I started this post.

I'm hoping more users test this camera. I would like a good few examples of users not being able to view live video from the camera.

Thanks for testing it tutenkp!

No problem for me to view it.

There is a need to install the Active-X control from ACTi's site:

Thanks nextan.

ACTi says you should not have to install that Explorer Setup file to view the camera. They say you should just have to download the ActiveX like all other IP cameras.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. You MUST download that file to view the camera. They do not believe me so that is why I started this post. I would like to get some more user opinions to show them.

Thanks again for testing the camera!

Every time I try to connect, all I get is this:

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

I don't see any error messages or prompts to install activex controls.

wes i think acti is referring to their new generation encoder/video server which has built-in active-x eg. sed-2120.

for ipcam, older version of cam-5100/5120 came with sem-1010 encoder module which you need to download the active-x, newer shipment should come with sem-1020 encoder module, your set is the older version.

They are actually refering to their older cameras and video servers. The current camera setup is their TCP1.0 and they have a TCP2.0 coming out with extra features. Right now, the camera looks to ACTi's website for the ActiveX because the camera only has a 4mb flash. This means the ActiveX is too large to be placed on the camera so they have the camera grab the ActiveX for the user off the ACTi website. The new TCP2.0 will have the ActiveX on the new 8mb flash.

If ACTi's website is down, the user will not be able to download the ActiveX from the camera.

Now ACTi says that you should only have to download the ActiveX from the camera and not have to install the EXE file from their website. The only way I can get the camera to work is if I install the EXE file from their website.

Same here. Locks up with the dll error, and closes IE.

I actually disconnected the camera. ACTi finally found the error and they fixed it.

Thanks everyone for your help!
