Hi! I really appreciate this forum and have learned a lot. I have a pretty basic question for all the experts out there! I am wanting to purchase several IP fixed dome cameras to put in our church hallways to monitor for any intruders at night. That is why I was "assuming" that I will need I/R built in. I don't want a $100 camera but I also don't want to spend $1,000 per camera! I want a good, reliable, quality, reasonably priced camera. Could you please help me out with a few quick suggestions? Maybe somewhere in the 300-600 dollar range? Thanks!

Good idea not wanting cheap, there's almost no excuse for not having mega pixel cameras. The link is for a Mobotix unit that lists for $648. This would have a wide enough coverage area where your wouldn't need as many cameras because it would have 10x the resolution of cheaper 640x480 camera.

So why Mobotix, they include the software free, while most high end cameras charge for it, so in the end, it's not so expensive.

For IP fixed dome cameras, maybe acti cameras can satisfy you.

Have you ever used Acti cameras? I have not and was wondering if anyone out there has real world experience. Thanks!

Depending on your installation needs, I would recomend in this order: Axis, 4xem, Trendnet.

If you are not worried about IR then Panasonic makes great cameras too.

Let us know the exact type of installation and I would be glad to recommend something further.

2nd the Mobotix. Excellent product

i have a Acti ACM8511 right now that they lent us to integrate their cameras into our mobile phone app. They are a mid level price point camera. You have to use IE to do the setup on the cameras. They don't not put out dual codec streams. you have to choose one or the other for overall stream.

Axis is fine also along with
Panasonic (go for bb-hcm series if you can. KX are ok also)
Toshiba
Sony
Vivotek
