|
|
I am using PTZ cam and iMultiview software. I connect the first IP cam to my linksys modem/router and assigned 192.168.1.48. I port forwarded port 80 to this address. There is no problem in view the cam via internet by callig up the adress via IE.
NOW I bought the second same PTZ cam. I assigned different IP adderss (192.168.1.58 ) and assigned different http port (port 81 instead of port 80 by default). I have no problem to view both cam locally (via intranet). However, I got stucked when trying to go online cause my own WAN address is allocated to my first IP cam. How can I overcome this problem? Please advise

Maybe I don't understand, but here's what i do. All my cameras come from the factory as port 80, I leave it that way, why mess with perfection. In the router, I setup port forwarding from port 80 of each camera to it's own external port at a high number, like 8001, 8002 and so on. Some ISP's tend to block port ranges in the lower register, so it could be your ISP does not like you using 81, silly, I know, but it's easier to use the high numbers than not. Also, some routers block lower number ports in their firewall.
Two other things I do is alway use static IP on your cameras, otherwise it will be a nightware changing port forwarding rules on your router all the time. Next, I use dyndns dot com to create a domain name for your WAN IP address. Many routers allow you to set this up, if not, get another router. Internall the feature is called ddns. This allows you to go to the same domain name every time even when your WAN IP address changes. The cost for this service is free if you chose one of their domain names, so for example, e5469.thruhere.net would be free.

Yeah I've been down this road, a basic linksys router has all you need in it. I run 4 wireless IP cameras with no issues, using the dyn.dns.com just make sure if you use the free service that you do log in once a month or you could loose your domain name. To avoid this you can use the pay feature..Just a thought and set up the port forwarding and port triggering features in the router, and you should be pretty much good to go. It took me forever to sort this all out the first time. Once you get the hang of it you can intergrate a new ip camera in just a matter of minuets!

Sorry if this was tried or mentioned already, but when you access the cameras remotely over the Internet and they do not use default port 80, you will need to input the full address to access the camera directly.
Example:
http://publicipaddress:800
Also, to get around the static vs dynamic IP address issue of your Internet IP, you can subscribe to a DDNS account which are usually low in cost and may even offer a free subscriptions for your first time registration (no-ip.com).
I hope this helps. _________________ NCS Peter

You have to create another IP for the second camera: 192.168.1.120 (for example) and a new port 8080, so the new IP is: 192.168.1.120:8080
then try this new address locally on your browser: 192.168.120:8080...you should see your image now, then you can try your internet address from your IP provider: 78.45.10.40(for example) plus the port: 78.45.10.40:8080 (you should see your image now)...go to www.dns.com and subscribe to a new account, it is free...and follow the instructions....
