Hi everyone,
I bought an Axis 207MW recently and am happy with it. I like that it is megapixel resolution.
I have motion detection working, but now I would like to have the camera email me when it is triggered.
Question: How the heck do you folks get webcams to email out images to a domain like gmail.com when these cameras do not use SSL?
I have thought of ideas such as:
- trying to run an SMTP server on my PC, sending the Axis 207mw images to my localhost, then forwarding on to gmail, but that has been difficult and I don't know the details
- running a web server and having the camera place images on my PC, then maybe using another program to email those off
- ?
Again, I would be grateful to hear from anybody and how you get around the fact that Axis does not use SSL for email authentication yet all web mail does use SSL.
Thanks,
Chris
