As Im sure we are all aware most ISP,s are blocking Port 25.....so this is a nightmare for the system I am using which is the ACTi NVR., in regards to sending email notifications to my customers. The Port cannot be changed in the NVR software its hard coded in....Was just wondering if anyone has found a way around this issue? Rolling Eyes

Most ISP's do not block port 25, they limit it to only their network. So you have to call your ISP and find out what the smtp address is and if you need authentication and if you do, what your username and password is. Then it will work fine. I have surveillence systems using AT&T DSL, Verizon DSL and COX Cable modem and they all let me email out on port 25.

Most email providers also offer alternate ports.

But his problem was not being able to change the smtp port number on his NVR software. If he had a high end router he would be able to change the outbound port number, but it may cost more than the cameras. He may be able to redirect port 25 to another port via a proxy. Check out Trivial Proxy - http://www.xrayapp.com/trivialproxy/

Still, odds are he just needs to get the smtp info from his ISP, should be a piece of cake once he has this. Or maybe just find different nvr software.

Ya I'm an idiot and didn't read the post all the way... Smile

Your suggestion was best anyway.

How sure are you that you cannot change the smtp port? Most software has the ability, some just hide it in a config file.

Just sounds bizzare that your ISP does not provide an SMTP server for you to use on port 25 for you to use. Who is that so I know who to avoid in the future?
