I have DSL internet service, so I have a Dynamic IP address. I set up the camera with a static IP that is acceptable by the Linksys WRT54G router. I set up Port Forwarding for Port 80. I set up an account on dyndns.org. So everything is set up exactly as it should be. Problem is, I can't access the camera from outside my network. I tried accessing the domain supplied by dyndns.org and I tried typing in my current dynamic IP and cannot connect. So I think my router is not allowing incoming traffic. I have heard about issues with port 80, so I tried port 8080 and that did not work either. So I tried port 7500, and still nothing. Any ideas of what could be wrong? I read something about and setting up the DNS notification feature on the Linksys... any idea how to do that?

This cannot be true: " So everything is set up exactly as it should be." Do you see why?
Also that isn't entirely true. If your router doesn't support NAT loopback then that could be the problem if you are only testing it locally. Have you tested externally to your camera's local LAN? _________________ I can record your video remotely. PM for details.

I need more information about your setting, please let me know what is your internal IP address, and the port number.
try and type your internal IP address and port number (I recommend port 8000)
for example
192.168.1.120:8000
if you see your camera locally then go and find your PUBLIC IP address
type your PUBLIC IP ADDRESS and PORT NUMBER
for example:
78.23.4.10:8000
You should see the camera now, try and call a friend with internet and tell him to type the same address, he should see it now.
Now is time to go to www.dyndns.com
follow the instructions in there...remember you have to set two names for your cameras:
1) <your camera name> for 78.23.4.10
2) <your camera name>:8000 (I believe they call this Web Hopping)
you will use the second name as your Camera Internet Address
let me know if you are still having trouble!

Internal IP of the camera is 192.168.1.111
I have set up port forwarding for my network for address 192.168.1.111 on ports 8000 and 710
Inside my LAN:
I can see the camera from my LAN at 192.168.1.111 but i cannot see it on 192.148.1.111:8000 or 192.168.1.111:710
Outside my LAN:
I got my IP address from whatsmyip.com: 65.5.200.160
I cannot see the camera on either 65.5.200.160:8000 or 65.5.200.160:710
I set up a free account in dyndns.org with that IP but i don't see an option to set up names and ports in dyndns.org.
But besides that, if i cannot see my cam on 65.5.200.160:8000, then dyndns will not work either.
How do i set up the router for NAT lookback?

Are you enabling the alternate http port under advanced network settings for the port you are attempting? _________________ I can record your video remotely. PM for details.

Copperalex....make sure your internal menu in your camera is set up at the same Port. Most cameras are factory set at port 80.
Take a look at the internal configuration menu in your camera, make sure the default port is NOT in port 80, make the correction to port 8000 (or the ports you are using in your Router)
If you did a factory reset to your camera at some point, it probably changed the port to a default port 80....please take a look at this.
Go to your router, make sure both ports are the same in there...try again
Something else, why are you using port 710?
192.168.1.111:710
If you have only one camera, just stay with only one port...!!
192.168.1.111:8000 seems to be a good choice..stay with this port, try and type it in your browser...you should see the camera now.

Normally this would be true but Axis cameras have an alternate port. Leave the default http port on 80 and use the alternate port under advanced. _________________ I can record your video remotely. PM for details.

I have set up my cam port to 1000 and my LAN address to cam is 192.168.2.103. i can successfully access my cam from 192.168.2.103:1000.
i have set up dyndns account, but whenever i access my dyndns host name from browser it opens up my router home page. i tried to add :1000 with the host name but that didn't work either.
what am i missing in these settings?

|
|
Hi,
I do also have connection errors with connections over the Internet. But the problem I have is that it doesn't work in 90% of the cases. But sometimes... it works! I'wondering if it can be the case that the CPU of the camera is to small to deal with FTP uploads to my local NAS device triggered by movements and serves as an webserver and stream the images at the same time?
But locally it works all the time... So it shouldn't be the case..
It is really annoying that it doesn't work when you need it.
My setup:
- Axis M1031-W
- Synology NAS for the FTP uploads
- Apple Airport Express for the WiFi connection
- Fritzbox FON 5124 as (NAT) router
Any suggestions?
Edwin
