Can someone help me ?
My daughter bought this IP camera but she is not able to find the camera so I took it with me but I am not able to find it too.
What have I done :
I connect the camera to my switch and connect it to the power.
After a few seconds the red light is on and the bleu is flashing
I download the installation Wizard software from DigiLan, install it and start it but the software donīt find the camera
I read in the manual something that the IP address could be something in the 192.168.0.99 range but that could be an example.
Therefor I change my adapter to 192.168.0.100 but the software still can not find the camera.

Can someone help me ?

The software just about all IP camera vendors give you will look across all subnets to find your camera. If it can not find your camera, there's a good chance there's something wrong. Try resetting the camera (there's usually a recessed button you hold for 10 seconds or so). Also, until you get the camera configured, try plugging it into the router instead of a switch.

Thank you for responding.
I found the problem, I opened the camera and the reset button was the problem. It was blocked so I could not reset the camera.
I clean it and now I found the camera.
But now I have an other problem, I can see the camera inside by IP address 192.168.1.36:2000 but not from outside.
Port 2000 is open and I can log in but that is all, I see nothing just a black screen.
I do not get the message that I must install some thing.
What can be the problem ?

Some cameras, especially older models or cheaper cameras require ActiveX. First they will only work with IE and only in Windows. Sure, it will let you log in, but it will never show you anything. Then even if you use IE, it's a PITA because you have to set permissions in IE that allow an unsigned ActiveX control to run, thereby creating a security hole. Check for a yellow banner at the top of the page asking you to allow permission or warning that you can't do this.

I now check to make sure any camera I get will run on a Mac, so I ask before buying. Not because I want to look at it on a Mac, because I know if works with a Mac, it's not going to have the ActiveX crap.

Also, some cameras have firmware upgrades that will allow a java implementation instead of ActiveX. Check with the guy that sold it to you.

Yes I think I need ActiveX
I install Firefox and here I get the message, not in IE
I search around but there are so many ActiveX software to download that I do not know which I need.
Do you know which I must download ?
Do you have a link or something '
Or does someone else have advice ?

Thank you so far

The ActiveX download is built in to the camera and you must use IE and it must be on Windows. It will self install if you have permissions set to allow it. Did you see a warning banner on top of the page?

Yes it was only at the first time.
Now I install Firefox and I get this message :
"This is a plug-in (ActiveX). If you see this text, your browser is not support or disable ActiveX"
I do not know if this is the same message as in IE but what I know is that I get a warning at the top of the page and I click on it to install but nothing happens after that and since then I never see the banner again in IE but now I do in Firefox.
But maybe you know what I can do after reading the message above what appears in Firefox

I would be truly surprised if this works in Firefox if your camera supports ActiveX. How old an IE do you have? I can only tell you about my experience with IE8 and it has a yellow banner across the top of the webpage that tell you that you have an unsigned ActiveX and you click on it for what to do, like install it. It could be you have ActiveX or unsigned ActiveX completely blocked.

That, the ActiveX, could be the problem but I check some things in IE8 security - internet but so far nothing helps and I donīt get the yellow banner in IE.
Therefor I installed Firefox and try to connect to the camera and then I get this message which looks like that something block the ActiveX but as I wrote I can not find where to un-block it.
This is the screen print :

By the way, when I log-in to the camera from outside then I do not see anything but when I push the picture button then it take a picture and I can see it.
So the camera works good

Check the manual for the camera. Some use a second port number for the video so you need to open up both ports.

I contact ABUS and they told me that they may not help me but I need a program VMS Basic or VMS Express that all they advice me and no futher help was possible so I download Express but the result is almost the same only now I do not have a black sreen but a collored screen.

But as you can see, that is not the camera.
I realy hope that someone can help me

Nol

Dont' have a clue, never even heard of VMS basic or express. If you suspect it's a router issue, then go into your router and most have the option to make that IP address DMZ. This means that any incoming request comes to the IP address and all ports are open for that IP. If it doesn't work in that mode, then you are out of luck.

Hi me again but now with the solution
Yes your solution !! Laughing
I contact the Dutch ABUS office to help me but they will not help me at all. Evil or Very Mad
I did not buy it from them so I had to go to the seller. Exclamation
Problem is that they donīt sell to customers so they never will be able to help new users of ABUS equipment. Wink
Therefor I contact the German office yesterday evening and they answer me this morning with the solution, open port 554 too Idea
That is what you told me before but that port was not mention in the manual so I could not find anything about that and I did not know which port must opened too
Anyway it works now and I want to thank you very much that you are so kind to help me. Very Happy
Again THANK YOU, I appreciate it very much Laughing

Best Regards,
Nol
