I am very new to the ip camera world...did not even know such a thing existed until last week when i started to do some research for some cameras to monitor our newborn with a new nanny who is about to start work for us in a couple of weeks.

What I am looking for:
1. 3-4 cameras that I can view remotely online ( and
possibly via cellphone once i get a phone that can handle data transfer) placed in various rooms throughout our home.
2. decent quality images with a decent framerate so i can view the action live
3. these will be indoor cameras, but i may want to be able to add on outdoor cameras later.
4. an easy way to record when i am away from my work computer...ideally separate from our dedicated home pc.
5. easy setup.
6. very reliable connectivity.
7. would like to keep the set up to $1000ish.

Are there any brands I should particulary look at or shy away from?

A friend recently bought a logitech system, but I have not seen it in action. Another has a basic Linksys single camera ... so-so images, but fine for watching a pet.

I have very minimal computer skills by the way.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Mike
