This could be a simple question or an easy question Smile.

At work, I manage the IP Security cameras. We have 5 4XEM W45's (Vivotek IPCAM45 - I think). They are fantastic in quality for the price we paid and work very well.

Now, these are not available anymore and I have a friend that owns a little country store and his old system was not only bad, but got fried. The W45's are not available anymore and I called 4XEM and they told me that the IP7130's were essentially nearly identical to the W45's. I checked the specs and compared them and it seems that they are identical, with only a few differences.

However, the IP7130's, while OK, are not really as high of quality of the W45's, there is absolutely no noise or delay on the W45's (even over the internet-WAN), yet the IP7130 does have both of these.

The only difference in the setup is that the W45's are in a much more sophisticated network, but I am not sure that would cause the problem.

Here are the specs for the IP7130s (it is an image that needs to be clicked because I could not find them anywhere:

And here are the specs for the W45

It just almost seems like the IP7130 are a bit more advanced even. (Though I am not sure why they took a slight step backward in OS).

What could be the problem here? Thanks!

Mike

One reason I stayed away from Vivotek was their quality inconsistency, there are some good cameras that they make but there are mediocre ones too, so it's hit and miss. I prefer ACTi because they are more consistent, never had a bad one. Where Axis and Vivotek, I've seen good and bad from them, so you get people that love them because they got the right ones and then you have people that don't like them because they bought the wrong model.

Why do you want to replace older VGA cameras with new VGA, why not step up to the world of HD or mega pixel cameras? The prices difference are shrinking and you can't have too much resolution.
