Hello everyone.

I am the Managing Director for the Surveillance & IP Video Group at Toshiba America Information Systems.

I am pleased to see that there is a great forum available for network camera. I am a huge fan of forums as they are a great place to get information and advice.

I will be more than happy to answer any questions anyone may have about Toshiba Network Cameras. Even if you've had bad experiences, it's okay to "lay it on me."

Also, I am here to listen and learn from all of you.

Welcome, not seen any Toshiba products in the commercial UK security market to date so would be interested to see what you have to offer for the UK.

Look forward to seeing your input. Very Happy

John,

Toshiba's activities in the video area for the past 20 years have been primarily in the America's and Asia with little activity in Europe.

About one year ago a senior manager was reassigned to study the Europe market and develop a plan to expand it. I believe products are being distributed by Toshiba TEC in Belgium. However, I am not in the loop currently. I will find out more and get back to you.

It's interesting as Europe is one of the largest security markets in the world and Toshiba is loosing ground to Axis, Sony and JVC. If they don't get there foot in the door soon they will miss out on the IP camera boom which is starting to take off.

I speak to traditional CCTV companies every day that are being forced to look at IP as this is what clients are asking for. Although the technologies are still quote expensive they are starting to come down and I see cheaper products being introduced.

The company I work for is always interested in new commercial IP security products. I work for a large distribution company and we have a presence all over Europe including Belgium.

I look forward to the info, maybe you can drop me a link to your web site.

Hello Toshiba Guy,

I'm having a terrible time getting the ActiveX control for the IK-WB02A to install on over half the machines I'd like to be able to view my camera from remotely. This is both on Vista Ultimate and Windows XP SP2 systems both running Internet Explorer 7. I figured out how to allow the system to install and run code that isn't signed, but in all cases, as soon as the .cab files run, the browser immediate gives a message that the ActiveX control wasn't able to initialize. I'm going nuts trying to fix this, seeing the same behavior on at least 5 different systems, but have three others that work fine.

All works fine using various third party IP camera software packages that use the GetData.cgi script to grab the motion JPEG, or the /Jpeg/CamImg.jpg single frame approach, but the frame rate seem lower than what's possible using the Toshiba ActiveX control.

Can you tell me, does the Toshiba ActiveX control just wrap the GetData.cgi script, or is it using some proprietary way to achieve greater frame rate?

Thank you for any information, I've really had an awful day trying to fix these problems.

Hi Toshiba Guy,

This is Troy, I'm the marketing manager of NUUO intelligent surveillance software.

We here at NUUO think the TOSHIBA IK-WB21A is a wonderfule megapixel IP camera with PTZ. It works 100% match with NUUO IP series surveillance software in providing clear image.

NUUO utilize this camera in exhibition and demonstration a lot.

Please try it out. and tell me what you think!
