I need a system to monitor a home in another state and need some help. I want 1 out door cam and 2 inside cams. I would like IP cams (I think). And a DVR (How big 500g ?) to record about 6 months. I would like to use POE cams (I think) I want to look real time from a laptop and get email alerts from anywhere. And it has to be easy to hook up. I will be using DSL at both locations. Can I record the video at my home or does it need to be at the camera location. I would like to get all this for about $1000, is that possible? Do they have a complete system that will do all of this or should I buy seperate items. Could you tell me the equipment I will need for this hook-up ie, router, cable box, POE cable, ect. Thanks for all your in put. Any help at all would be great.

cheap PoE switch I tested by trendnet 4 port PoE 4 Port 10/100 = 60$

Cameras could be cheap as for the indoors maybe 60 - 100 for 640 x 480 resolutoin Ip cameras and outdoor might run up to a few hundred...

Check out the software Buell always raves about Blueiris its cheap on 50 bucks
