I am researching a unique (as far as I know) use for IP network cameras... I am attempting to use these cameras onboard an underwater (observation class) remote operated vehicle (ROV). My requirements are that the units operate on a tether that is a length of 300ft. What hardware do I need to extend the network cameras to that distance from my PC/router?
If I want to go more distant than 300ft, what is required?
THanks

Get burial grade cat5e, that will be as waterproof as it can get and 500' should cost you $200-250. It has like a grease coating between the layers and it's metal shielded to suppress interferance. Technically you can go 100m (330'), but I've heard stories of people going as much 331, 332'. How far do you want to go?
