I was wondering if someone could recommend a good recording software that will easily allow me to manually record an IP camera and save it in a format that I can play back in windows media player.
I simply need to record training sessions and speeches when they are happening in our training room.
Thanks,
Steve

Just about all software I've worked with puts video out in it's own format and then provides software to convert to a standard format. My ACTi cameras do spit out video events via FTP and does do so in a readibly accessible format, but only tested it briefly, but may do what you want. Go to their site and download one of their manuals and verify. _________________ For network camera articles and reviews, visit my blog at http://ipcamnetwork.wordpress.com

Qnap is a robust and affordable stand alone NVR system that will serve your needs and more. They have different models depends on the number of channels and storage space you need.

But can you access the video from an external PC directly in a common format or do you have to convert from QNAP to another format, say for example you wanted to share the video clip with law enforcement? _________________ For network camera articles and reviews, visit my blog at http://ipcamnetwork.wordpress.com

Users can play the files by Windows Media Player. There is no need to install unique program or convert the QNAP files to other formats. =)
