Hi,
I have started installation of an IP based CCTV system and purchased some Cisco and Trendnet camera.
I now need some software compatible with both systems (and any I add going forward).
Can you recommend some software that covers these key points
• Budget £100
• Capacity of approx 16 cameras
• Licence that I can install at 2 locations (Laptop and home)
• Motion detection
• Recording schedule
• Compatible with cisco trendnet and others.
• Ability to email alerts and videos
• PTZ control
Many thanks

That's a pretty tight budget for the features you are asking for. If you are willing to spend a few bucks more, Qnap has some stand alone NVRs that support all the features you want. You get what you pay for you know....

I've used BlueIris Software in the past, works pretty well, costs $50 per PC, has broad camera support and fits well within your budget. Of course you'll need to buy a PC and have Windows running on it, but there's no special requirements and any decent new computer, say with Sandy Bridge i5 processors, a few gig of ram should handle 16 cameras. They offer a 2 week trial if you want to try it out, so nothing to lose. Don't know if you need 2 PC's, because you can view the cameras setup on BlueIris remotely from any browser for free. You would need 2 licenses if you had a different set of cameras setup on each, and the software checks, so you can't cheat and use the same serial # for both.
What has gotten expensive over the last 6 months is hard drives, so computers with decent sized hard drives are more difficult to find or pricey. 6 months ago I got a 2TB hard drive for $79, now it may cost 2-3X as much. _________________ For network camera articles and reviews, visit my blog at http://ipcamnetwork.wordpress.com

You said you would need 2 licenses if you had a different set of cameras setup on each.
So if I have 3 different locations (ip addresses) for my cameras, (home, work, cottage) would I need three licenses ?
