Hi,
I have the Panasonic BB-HCM581A PTZ that I bought from Johnny here on the forum. I have really enjoyed having video and thought it would be nice if I could hear what wildlife is out there too. I have found a mic I am thinking of ordering and I want to make sure it is the right one. I only want to hear the wildlife that my camera is viewing. I donít want to record or be able to talk from the mic. I gather that I need to use 3.5mm mini microphone jack from what I have read. I am afraid Iím going to order the wrong thing. If you could just let me know if this will work Iíd appreciate it. Hereís the info about what I want to order: ETS, ML1-WS, 1/2 Inch Knockout Mountable Weather and the webpage is here : http://www.surveillance-video.com/ml1-ws.html If someone can tell me if this will work Iíd really appreciate it
Thanks so much for your time,
Terri

The plug will fit the camera. You will need to have a hole drilled into the Pelco dome's metal housing to mount the mic or a smaller hole to run the cable through the dome and mount the mic else where's. Getting access to the jack withh be tight when the camera is mounted in the dome, but not impossible. Who ever drill the hole, make sure they know what they are doing. If a hole is blindly drilled, damage to the camera and/or the heater and blower can result. If all is sucessfull and the sound if like my higher end Panasonics BB series, it will be FANTASTIC!

P.s. - someone may raise a concern about the impedence (sp?) of the microphone and the camera. Save the receipt and return the mic if a mismatch of impendence is the case.

I was surprised to see your reply here John.. I thought Iíd get a notice by email when someone posted to my thread. Thanks so much for your reply. I went ahead and ordered it a few minutes ago. Iím excited to get it hooked up.
I guess I assumed I could run this new mic cord through the pendent area where the other camera cords are running out the back. I guess Iíll have to assess the cituation when I take it down. I donít trust doing the work from a ladder. Iím sure once I get it rehung Iíll have a few questions about how to change the camera settings. Thanks again for your time. Iíve really enjoyed having the video camera.
