First I'd like to know if I'm on the correct forum to ask questions about cameras and what I want the caera to do. First of all I'm trying to find a camera that is a small color camera, has 940nm B*W cability for the out doors and yet has resolution that will enable me to take video with good enough quility where if I had a picture of a person 60 foot away I would be able to zoom up on the still frame and recognize the person in detail enoght to hand over to the PD and be captured. What cameras should I be loking at. I will need eight of these to get a view around my home.

Most cameras will work fine with a 940nm wavelength but if you mean do they have 940nm IR LEDs, then no, don't know of any. The reason is you need way more light at 940nm vs. 850nm. If the reason is you want to be discrete, some people put exposed print film negatives over the IR leds to make them less visible but still gets you most of the benefit of IR LEDs.

Can you ID someone 60' depends on resolution, sensor size, lens focal length. Use a lens calculator to figure that out - http://cctvlenscalculator.com/ Figure you need a head to be about 85 pixels tall or 40 pixels wide to ID someone and about half that recognize someone.

I use a 3MP camera with the lens set at 4mm and I can ID someone at about 25'. Figure I can hit 60' with a 8MP camera or set my lens to 10-12mm.
