is there a network camera out there that can send triggered images to an e-mail address without the use of a pc.

my pc is in my bedroom and it's loud. i don't want to keep it on all night.

does anyone have any opinions on the quality and physical size of the gadspot nc1000-l10/w10.

thanks.

Hello,

There are many cameras out there that will send email snapshots or FTP snapshots without the use of a PC. Considering Network Cameras have a built-in webserver it does all the work without the use of a PC. I believe the NC1000-L10 has that feature as well.

As for quality and size.....They don't provide a demo on their website or the size of their cameras. I will try contacting them to see if I can get the dimensions and a demo for you.

if you already have alot of cameras or wanted to research a features chart showing the cameras on the market and the basic features included on the camera web server would be there single most useful page you could make for people I think

punkouter,

I actually have made a chart. Last week I created a camera comparison guide which can be found here, http://www.networkcamerareviews.com/compare.html.

The chart allows you to compare up to three cameras. It displays the cameras features and specs.

Just to let you know, some specs are missing for a few manufacturers (I think some Axis, Hawking and Sony cameras) Whenever I get a chance I am trying to update specs for those cameras.

This is the response I got from Gadspot regarding the dimensions of the NC1000 and NC800.

The NC1000 camera is roughly about 7" x 3.5" x 2" and weighs just over a pound.

The NC800 is about 3.5" x 2.5" x 2" and weighs about a pound.

I have a link for a camera demo but they change the password every week. IF you would like the demo, send me a private message and I will give it to you. I don't want to post it here because in a few days the password will probably be different.

Hope that helps Smile

Just about every IP camera solution is capable of sending e-mail on motion, and of course does not require your computer to be on

Hi punkouter,

I am working to get specs up for all cameras. I haven't got to the BL-C10A yet, but I will as soon as I can.

I have a Y-cam and it can do both e-mail and FTP when it detects motion and/or at intervals and was very easy to setup even without any technical knowledge.

www.y-cam.com

Good cameras and very good value for money.

I can also help you set it up if need be since I have installed quite a number of them at my home. Not that you will need any help since they are full plug and play (UPnP)

Tell me how it goes when you get some.

Hi PDF417

Oh, yes, I got one just for try out. good camera, I like it. the best part as you mention is UPNP. I can obtain external IP address and port number as soon as I logon the camera. that is great!!!! so I only need copy and paste the link to address bar, no need to do portwarding. setup to view my office from outsider, easier than I expected!!

Question, are all wireless routers in the market has UPNP function????

thanks for you help
