really....it is on the list of supported cameras. I tried Milestone....while I liked it, if I could afford that software for 13 cams......then I would own a Mobotix Laughing

I am amazed why iCode i-Catcher Consloe software never gets a mention. I have tried all the leading demos and NOTHING comes close to the iCode package. Hundreds of Cams are supported and it has rock solid performance...Some points i like:

PTZ "tracking" option.
Motion detection "timeline" plays with one click (not dozens of individual files you have to view seperately)
Very nice web viewer
Very reliable

Demo:

....highly recommended!

BlueIris lists specific cameras, not brands, for example they had an Arecont model that was an older model and when I selected that camera as an option, it did not work with my Arecont AV3100DN. Xceed was very cheap for me as they give away their 1 camera license Smile I could have tried to make it work and BlueIris was willing except I was running out of time on the eval copy and didn't want to pay for it not known if it would work.

Vitamin D is also giving away it's software for 1 camera, worth trying and their prices are pretty cheap for more cameras ($199 for unlimited). I haven't tried it yet, too busy but I will. A little more sophisticated than BlueIris in that it does analytics - http://www.vitamindinc.com/

Personally, I found Blue Iris wasn't a good fit for me due to the fact that each individual motion detection is saved as a seperate file. Playing a couple of dozen captures gets tedious whereas iCodes software stitches all the motion events together and plays as one continuous file with VCR type controls.

I played around with Vitamin D and the one camera "free" version only displays 320x320 video - pretty much useless for security needs. It also crashed on me twice after a number of hours of continuous recording. I was using Win 7.

Well 900.00 USD for my 13 cam system is a little more than Blueiris's 50.00 price. I will try the demo....but it is really going to have to be good. I did look at the screen shots and the remote client.

Everybody keeps raving about Milestone. But I can't get it to work properly at all on Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate using Panasonic WV-NS202As and BB-HCM581s - all with the latest firmwares. On some machines Milestone will not even recognise any WV-NS202A camera; otherwise, when any 202A is recognised, Milestone will not operate the PTZ, zoom or focus controls on these models. Another thing I don't like about Milestone is that it specifies high-end versions of Windows, whereas many other NVR softwares can run on more basic versions of the OS.

I have 'just' found out that Milestone is a bit behind with some camera firmwares. If you have a camera with the very latest firmware check that Milestone supports the firmware version in your camera before trialling the software. Otherwise you might spend ages (like I did) trying to get Milestone to work with certain cameras. For example, right now Milestone will not work with these cameras that have the latest firmwares:

1. Panasonic BLC-131 - Version 3.60R00
2. Panasonic BB-HCM581 - Version 3.60R00
3. Panasonic WV-NS202A - 2.71P0

Nice package I agree. But sadly:

1. MJPEG only
2. No audio support
3. No focus support

By yours truly,

And CastleKeeper is the ONLY package I've tested so far that supports ALL the features in ALL my cameras and doesn't cost a fortune to buy. So, good for you 'yours truly'. Keep up the good work. I urge everyone to check out CastleKeeper without delay. Glad I did anyway...
