Hello~
I hope someone can help me on this problem. I'll try to be brief.. hopefully. First, I'm a newbie and I appreciate everyones patience.

I purchased a new-old stock Asix 2120. I want to upload pictures to a website that is part of my Centurytel DSL package... They give you space when you sign up. I have many hours with no success. The purpose is to keep an eye on my vaction property.

The ftp site is :

"home.centurytel.net/USERNAME. I have entered all my info including password and user name. I get the following errors:

Jan 11 16:00:01 Ranch Cam image_buffer[7783]: Starting image_buffer version: $Revision: 1.67 $
Jan 11 16:00:04 Ranch Cam sftpclient[7796]: home.centurytel.net: unknown host.

The camera works great on my local network... but I want to either use an FTP to post pictures to my website, or use it for streaming video... which I have not been able to figuer out either. All of the documentation I have found is written for people with much more gray matter than I have!
Crying or Very sad

Any help would be appreciated.

Bill

Hello Bill,

Is it possible you cans how us a screenshot of the FTP configuration page on the camera? This would help me see what settings you have set so I can find if there is an error. Feel free to black out the username and password.

If it says unknown host, it sounds like it either can't access the FTP server or it is having trouble reading the IP or domain you entered. Try entering just home.centurytel.net and see if that works.

Hi Wes~
I had some trouble getting the screen shot to load. But, i uploaded it to this url.
http://home.centurytel.net/hollyroseranch/sceenshot.JPG

Hopefully this will give you some idea of my problems. Incidently, I did manage to get the streaming video to work.... thanks to your website and the help menu.

Glad to hear the website helped Smile

Your settings look fine, the only thing I could think the issue could be is something with the upload path. It could also be that your FTP doesn't use passive mode. Try unchecking the passive mode option and see if that fixes your issue.

As for the upload path, are you placing the snapshots in the root directory of your FTP server?

I can't remember if the AXIS 2120 has a log file but check within the cameras configuration if it contains a log file. It should tell you why the FTP is not functioning correctly or at least give us some hint as what the problem might be.

I only was only using the root directory as a test.... I don't have much there anyway.

RE the log, on my first post, I included the last lines of what I was seeing. I'll give the other suggestions a try.

Thanks,

Bill

Sorry about that Bill - I missed that!

Maybe try using the IP of home.centurytel.net. Also, as a test, try putting a directory in the upload path like "/test/" without the quotes. See if it is able to upload then. From the log file it looks like it can't find the FTP server. I would try using the IP and see if that fixes the issue.

I agree with Wes.... home.centurytel.net resovles to 209.142.142.56 ...use this for the "Host". Also for "Upload path" you'll need at least a "/" in case you're downloading into your root directory "hollyroseranch", I presume.

let us know how you make out. Laughing

Laughing I appreciate all the help... I reentered all of the commands of the Centurytel config.... Still no go. One thing I did find is that when setting up the ftp, there are actully two menus to look at. One under the NETWORK config and the other under the APPLICATIONS. With that said, I do have some Success.

I abandoned my attempt with CenturyTel and went to an alternative FTP site for my other service. I reloaded the the information and ...WHA-LAAAAA it worked.

Again..thanks to all . GREAT SITE for INFO.... Thanks WES...et-al.
