|
|
Hi
Looking high and low for latest firmware to update for my Ipcam so I can view camera on my mobile.
The Ipcam web interface appear to be common on a lot of camera coming out of china, which uses that horrid buggy IE ActiveX component.
I have tried to contact the supplier in china, SZ-going.cn , but they ignore my emails. Tried contacting imagia , no reply. Tried googling and cannot find any downloads for this
Why is that the chinese not interested in providing support or firmware updates..
The model of my camera is GT-NMS-D2
The current web interface version I'm running is 3.05.00 (Oct 12 2007 14:47:49) and want to upgrade to version 4.
The video server appears to be ;
Company Name : Imagia
Model Name : STR9100_IpCam
Board Information : STR9100 SDK V1.0
System Description : IPcam MPG430 for STR9100 platform
Can anyone advise where I can download this firmware ?
Thanks

I believe your camera is manufactured by a company called Shixin, and is resold under a variety of different names by various resellers. I think, if you SSH into the camera, you'll find that the actual model number is IP510, check that and if it is, this url should have the correct firmware upgrade.
http://www.shixin-china.com/userfiles/file/ipcam%20S3.1.0.2.rar
I will say, I won't be responsible if you brick your camera with it though. Thing I need is some network camera viewing software that'll work with this camera. Any ideas?

Hi Folks,
Interesting thread.
I also have been stupid enough to purchase camera from China. To be exact, this one:
http://www.kadymay.com/chanp-jies/ip-KDM-6791.htm
Leave aside the fact that 'New" Camera was actually completely used, missing screws and so on, the camera had FW from 2006 which was terrible and useless. ActiveX control was even unsigned and could not be installed easily.
So I used the Firmware image from supplied CD (Higher version number). As a result I lost video signal on this camera (F/W status page says "signal lost").
Of course there was no help from the manufacturer, so I opened up the unit and saw that it uses Imagia MPG440 chip.
I found this thread and downloaded the F/W from www.shixin-china.com, it worked too but still "Signal Lost".
Could that be related to fact that this F/W is for MPG430 chip and mine is MPG440?
Does anyone know where I could download working firmware for MPG440 units?
I am ready to take chances, the unit is a brick anyway...
Thanks!

Just buy another cheap (aka terrible) Chinese camera lol. You might as well get used to doing so. _________________ I can record your video remotely. PM for details.

Hmm, besides the fact that your comment does not help in any way:
Some cameras from China are very well OK. One needs to know which ones indeed, but trust me, there are really good (and cheap) ones.
The main problem they have is with Firmware but since many of those share same hardware (It will be GM8180 or HI3511 in 99% of the cases for H.264) it is possible to use good F/W flashes on them.
Or get SDK / Development board and make your own distro But that's 5k

Mactrekr, thank you for your tip.
You are right this is the IP-510.
I have the same camera.
I updated the firmware with the version you posted.
The new firmware is a little better. Now it is possible to change the in and out TCP/UDP ports of the camera from the webinterface.
I still have problems with uploading avi parts to a ftp server for an area that is marked for motion detection. The camera just doesn't do it. It works with images to email, though.
Also the problem with the activeX remains. The activeX is not certified. So IE won't run/install/show it by default.

There are better cameras from China, but they are typically from Taiwan and they tend to cost more then products from nearby Shenzhen were the biggest source of junk seems to come from. ACTI is one of them and I have another one that I saw at CES and was impressed by their image quality. Don't get me wrong about Shenzhen, I buy access control products from there that work really well and are pennies on the dollar compared to products available locally.
I haven't owned one from Taiwean myself to try out but maybe I should, they get decent reviews. Maybe when I sell my Arecont AV3100DN on ebay that I bought to try it out, I'll use the money for an ACTI. If any wants a deal on the Arecont, let me know.

*Bump*
Hi Folks,
I bought myself a chines sort of ip-cam myself.
The website stated it had RTP streaming and everything available but as excpected, it did not
I was able to telnet to it and found out the following about it:
Ipcam::system>show version
TrustBXB_Ruan
TrustBXB_TB_728 version 3.06.00 (Jan 21 2008 15:28:33)
Ipcam::system>show config
[Board Configuration]
Ethernet MAC Address: 00-1F-89-68-03-1D
WLAN MAC Address : 00-1F-89-68-03-1D
Serial Number : 0000000001
Company Name : Imagia
Model Name : STR9100_IpCam
Board Information : STR9100 SDK V1.0
System Description : IPcam MPG430 for STR9100 platform
Ipcam::system>
Well what do you know, an STR9100 board with a MPG430 and trustbxb H264 module.
So it runs Linux and I want to play around with it...
Is there anyone that knows of an SDK for this STR9100 platform?
Could I be able to flash my camera with different firmware?
I don't like the current firmware as it also has the Windows OCX only problem...
I tried looking at the trustbxb.com website... which is pretty useless since there's no info on this... at least not in english.
Neither for the STR91000 board... No good info
Anybody else got any further ?

If one has nothing to say it is always wise to do just that: say nothing. You seem to forget this.

@sheyg1rl
Somehow the name with '9100' showed up in MsWindows Explorer under network devices oneday. It doesn't show up all the time, but I remembered that and start 'googling'. I then ended up at this site.
My unit just looked exactly like the 510 with the same specs.
So I downloaded the newest firmware and installed it.
Now I can set all the TCP/IP ports of the camera via the webinterface.
But you still have to do the trick in Internet explorer to let the activeX install.(because it is still the same and not signed)
