Hello,

We recently purchased a Canon VC-C50i with the intended purpose of using as a high-end webcam for our conference room. I am having some trouble figuring out how to connect the camera to a PC. The only out connections available is through the VC-EX3 adapter which has a 8pin DIN RS232. Any ideas on what cables I need to connect the camera to a PC.

Also, once this is connected, do you know where I can find drivers for it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The Canon VC-C50i is the analogue model and the VB-C50i is the network camera.

IPCam Si,

rockzilla2000 is correct that you do indeed have an analog CCTV camera as opposed to a network camera. However, if you can get an adpator that will allow for you to convert the serial conneciton on the camera to an analog bnc connection then you can add a video server to convert your camera into a network camera. If you can't convert from the serial conneciton straight to BNC then you might find that a serial to RCA then a RCA to BNC will also work.

It really gets a bit tricky to convert the signal due to the serial cable including many pins that will need conversion to a single analog line. You may need to "McGyver' the solution.
