software for linksys wvc54gca ip camera

I have purchased the linksys wvc54gca ip camera for my home. This is my first ip camera. As i just purchased it, i can return it or i am wondering if there is some alternative software that will help the limitations of the software that comes with the camera.
The problem is that if i set up the motion detection, it will email me a short 4 second video of the motion and i have the option to put it on a ftp. But then that is it. So someone walks in the door, I get that clip but nothing else. I am hoping that i can find software that when motion is detected, it will alert me and keep recording until it does not detect motion anymore.
