|
|
Ok....I purchased two Axis 2100 on Ebay, in used condition and I had a lot of trouble trying to set them as per the manual on my Windows Vista.
After several weeks, doing all kind of troubleshootings and research, I found out that Windows Vista will not work on the Axis IP configuration program and if you use the manual configuration on DOS it will not work either!!!
I am lucky because I have an older computer in my office connected to the network which runs Windows XP, and finally everything worked fined on my Windows XP and the Linksys router.
Everything else went smooth and now my two axis 2100 are working fine.
Conclusion: The Axis 2100 is a fine camera and for $50 bucks each is a good deal, however it is so old that it will not work on Vista for the initial configuration, you must have Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows ME for the initial set up. And this is something you won't find at the Axis website, they will tell you the camera is not longer supported.

I wish I had read your post first! I have also bought a 2100 from eBay and spent most of the day trying to set the ip address using Vista, finally managed it using XP.
I cannot get it to upload to my ftp server, tried putting ftp. in front of name and tried passive mode but log file shows 'unknown host'
Anu suggestions?

Sounds like it's not looking up the hostname (simply putting "ftp" in front won't do anything, btw, unless there's a different server by that name). Did you configure a DNS server in the camera setup?
