Royal Danish Embassy hosts event on new partnership with KT Workshop.

Milestone Systems, the world’s leading provider of open platform IP video surveillance software, officially launches their business in Japan with new partner KT Workshop at the Royal Danish Embassy in Tokyo on May 18th.

Milestone Systems has formed a new partnership in Japan with KT Workshop, who has built up a significant customer base installing Paxton Access Control solutions. A good percentage of these customers are estimated to be interested in integrating with IP video surveillance in order to gain increased value and efficiencies in managing their business security. The Milestone XProtect Enterprise IP video software is already integrated with the latest version of Paxton Access Control in Europe, so it is a natural progression to extend this offering to the Japanese security systems market.

The Royal Danish Embassy in Japan is one of the customer sites where KT Workshop has installed the integrated solution with Milestone XProtect IP video surveillance and Paxton Access Control software, operating with Panasonic and JVC network cameras. The Embassy will be the location for the launch event on the 18th of May 2006: official invitations have been sent to the top echelon companies in the country, as well as to editors of both the national business and security press.

The launch event will include a presentation from Milestone CEO Lars Thinggaard, and an introduction from KT Workshop Managing Director Seiichi Kido. There will also be a special appearance by Simon Harris, Senior Industry Analyst for IMS Research, who will speak on “Trends in the Security Industry”. The integrated Milestone/Paxton IP video and access control solution will be demonstrated and available for hands-on operation. A reception will be held thereafter at the residence of the Danish Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Freddy Svane.

“The industry is quickly picking up on the many advantages of IP security solutions, and Milestone is the best of breed software platform for this. The time is therefore right for us to continue our international expansions,” states Lars Thinggaard. “We have high expectations for success in Japan with the KT Workshop partnership: they have a solid foundation in the Japanese market, and have already demonstrated their expertise with the installation at the Royal Danish Embassy's Business Center. They have furthermore completed impressive translations of our software into Japanese, along with all of the product materials and customer reference articles.”

Japan’s economy grew at 5.4% in the last quarter of 2005, according to reports from the government (as published in the International Herald Tribune). Manufacturers have increased stockpiles to prepare for greater consumer and corporate spending, which is helping the economy to expand for the seventh straight year, marking its longest postwar expansion. In comparison, the US only had 1.6% annual pace of expansion and the dozen countries that share the Euro had just 0.3%.

Milestone XProtect software is designed with open architecture that allows integration with many other devices and systems besides Access Control, like Point-of-Sale or Automatic Teller Machines, to be able to search and show the transaction data simultaneously with video of the occurrences in action. This capability only adds to the popularity of the Milestone products, which have already won worldwide market share for robustness and reliability. XProtect is now available in six language versions.
