Hello:
cheap lens, about 4mm - ended replacing with 2.1mm lens from DX that was sharper and covered a nice wide area
Would you please tell me where you bought the replacment lens and how you replace in your Camera.
Thank you
Avinash

Hi,
I would also like to know where I can buy the extra lense for the foscam fi8908w.
I just bought this camera from foscam.us and got it setup. No problems yet, but i got my fingers crossed. They said comes with 1 year warranty. Question: Will I void the warranty if I put in the new lense?
Please let me know.
Thanks,

It's sort of not worth it. Pay a bunch of money to ship a camera back to China, then they'll claim it's fine, then they may send me a new one and charge me shipping. For $80, I got a good lesson. The camera works, but since it's so unreliable if it accidently powers down, I use it in my office and have it plugged in my UPS and it's good enough for that. Ironically, I have the clone working in my vacation home, no problems.

Buellwinkle,
Your comments gave me greate cause for concern so i contacted www.foscam.us and asked them about it. They told me they will accept warranty shipments at their Houston, TX, office and we don't need to send the Camera's back to China. Also, the shiping on the replacement is free.
Thus, if my camera breaks within 1 year I can ship it back to Houston, TX, at my own expense. Then, I will get a replacement shipped from Houston and foscam.us will cover the shipping on that end.
However, they said this policy only applies to people who bought their cameras from foscam.us but not on Ebay.
I know this doesnt help your situation, but it a huge relief for me.
Best Regards,

I took it inside and it could connect on my desk wireless... so it is like the problem is on the wifi module of the camera that does not have good power to receive/transmit signals as before. I am annoying because this is an outdoor camera, and now I can not let it work as it was originally |
Hi,is your problems sovled? maybe it is caused by wifi mould.

I got a less than a year old Foscam 8908W with the latest F/W
I also have issues with the Wifi module, it can detect any wireless(receive) but it cannot connect anymore to any wifi! even without encryption!
It seems that this might be a common fault on Foscam cameras
The bad thing that Foscam told me that they do not sell any parts, although the wifi module takes just 5min to replace!
Answer is : Camera is not useful anymore because can only work via ethernet cable
Careful guys !
BTW, how much you have to spend to find a decent wifi camera that is capable of streaming a 30fps video like those available on earthcam

Hi I have a foscom camera too FI8918W its great but I need to link it too some surveillance software like mentioned in this thread.
But one issue I have is that I have the camera inside a bedroom looking outside at my car on the drive. During the day I have to configure the contrast but I have to change it again for night time there is no one configuration that works for both day and night that i can find!
Is it possible for the software to change the display settings during the day and night time?

I purchased what was advertised as a foscam on ebay, it turned out to be a chinese copy. It only has a very slimmed down subset of the foscam CGI commands.
But I managed to get it working with the following URL:
http://ww.xx.yy.zz:81/video.cgi?user=admin&pwd=admin
where ww.xx.yy.zz is the LAN network address of the camera. _________________ Fraser.

Have you guys tried putting any cameras on Sensr.net? It's a free service for monitoring, saving, and sharing IP cameras. The site is built around always-on network cameras, and it store all the motion events from your cameras so you can share them with friends and family easily.
It works great with Foscam models, and their network camera blog has guides on how to set up the Foscam FI8905W and how to configure the Foscam FI8918W if you get stuck.
