Linksys WVC54GC (v1.1) - free time lapse software?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a very short term solution, so I'm looking for something that will do this for free

I just want to create a time-lapse video (or even set of photos) of my garden for one day, so I can see what the sun is doing and how long each area gets sun, etc.

I have a Linksys WVC54GC. It is a wireless IP camera.

The Linksys built-in software can record a video for me of the entire day, but it apparently can't do time lapse, so to record 14 hours of video is going to be in the vicinity of 3 GB file size... not quite what I'm looking for

I downloaded a trial version of webcamXP but it didn't support this model. (They had the 54G and the 54GCA but not the 54GC)

I downloaded something else - Willing Webcam something - and it worked at first, and then it died and refused to detect the camera.

Any suggestions? I have two computers, so it can run on either Windows XP Pro or Windows Vista (64-bit)

PS - it doesn't have to be completely free - a free time-limited demo would work fine too. I don't mind if there's a watermark.

I found this thread: http://www.networkcamerareviews.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3413 and tried the two programs listed. The first one didn't work, but Blue Iris is happily creating snapshots every 5 minutes for me. It has a 15 day free trial, so that should be all I need.

I had the same problem as you and read your post a few weeks ago. I also was not very impressed with the different software options available.

Anyway, I have started to make an online version that doesn't require installing any software and uses cloud storage - so it's theoretically unlimited and automatically backed up. Also, for me the main advantage is that I dont have to leave my computer on the whole time.

I am planning to charge for it, or at least to pass on the costs of developing it and using the storage. But for now it is just in Beta and available for testing for free.

I would be very happy if anyone here would like to test it out with their cameras and let me know what sort of features they would like to see.

The Image URL you use should be the still image URL, for Linksys Cisco cameras this means /img/snapshot.cgi

Most cameras, even the cheapies from China have the ability to FTP images on a fixed schedule, like once every few minutes without having to install any software (assuming you have an FTP server for it to send the images too).
