Hi,
I'm new to the forum and new to the Milestone Xprotect line of products. I'm taking the demo version of Xprotect Basis+ for a test run and have hit a snag. I installed the recording server piece on my test server and successfully added 3 test IP cameras (Axis brand). When I launch the Smart Client on the server, and log in, there is no video from the installed cameras showing on the Live tab. I selected Full Access For All Users and have read the manuals but still get no live video. When I view the properties of each camera and preview the video I have good images from each camera. Did I miss a step somewhere in the setup or could there be something Windows/server related? The database is running on a Windows Server 2003 server.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I apologize in advance if this question has already been addressed more than a few times.

Make sure each user has live view rights in the image administrator and that the scheduler under administrator has the cameras online on the time you are viewing. If the scheduler is offline you can check the box for start cameras on remote request in general. _________________ I can record your video remotely. PM for details.

Thanks for the reply. I double/triple-checked the settings you mentioned and they are set correctly. When I click on the Setup tab in SmartClient the installed cameras are listed but when I highlight any of one them, nothing shows up in the properties window which seem odd. I tried logging in from a remote PC using both SmartClient and the browser based Remote Client and got the same result. I can log in to the server without any problems but I don't get any live video. Most peculiar.

Houston, we have live video. I inquired directly to Milestone and one of their support engineers helped me out. It was a Smart Client configuration issue. In the Setup area I needed to create a new Shared Group then in that group create a New View, then add the cameras to that view folder. After that when I clicked on the Live tab, tadah! - live video. I had read over the chapters in the users manual that pertain to the view but apparently didn't read carefully enough. Needless to say, I was very impressed with the quick response from Milestone Support esp. since at this time we are just auditioning the software.
Best Regards.
J
